Short courses.
Many people are too busy to sign up for a course which stretches over several months. As a response to the need for short, accessible and enjoyable learning opportunities we are trialling a range of six-session courses. Any church or chaplaincy may request a short course. Usually we ask that it be opened up to other churches in the area (with plenty of advance notice). Courses are led by two facilitators, one from the locality and the other from the wider region.
'Making sense of the Bible for today' being trialled at Killingworth.

The Faith & Life Course
runs from September to June at a variety of venues across the region. For 2010/11 new groups have been formed in the following areas: Newcastle East, Newcastle West, Hexham, Ashington, Alnwick, Durham City, South Shields, Gateshead West and Hartlepool. Twice during the year members of the groups come together for an away day. Faith & Life aims to help us grow in faith and understanding, and to apply our faith in practical everyday ways.
End of course celebration June 2009 at Stannington, with the Newcastle and Northumberland course groups.

Living Theology Today
runs from October to June and is based in Durham. In it we aim to explore Christian theology in an all-round way, engaging with the heart, not just the head. People from all walks of life have found these series to make a big difference as regards personal faith, understanding the Bible, and their sense of purpose in life.
Exploring Theology Today
is a new course that is based on Living Theology Today but which has been adjusted to the Newcastle diocese context. It runs from September to July and is based in North Shields.

Theology Modules.
Theology modules can be taken informally without a need to complete the written work. Participants are not registered with the University but 'audit' (i.e. listen to – but also engage in!) the sessions week by week for a period of 13 weeks for each module. Modules are taught at Carter House, Durham and at Church House, North Shields.
